The Hardwood Plywood and Veneer Association (HPVA) representing North America’s manufacturers of hardwood veneer  and engineered hardwoods – hardwood plywood and engineered flooring for over 90 years.  All of the major U.S. and Canadian producers of hardwood plywood, engineered flooring, and hardwood veneer are members of HPVA.  HPVA’s staff are recognized experts in engineered hardwoods.

An approved ANSI consensus standards organization that sponsors ANSI/HPVA HP-1-2009 for hardwood plywood and ANSI/HPVA EF 2009 for engineered wood flooring which are both globally recognized. The voluntary Industry standard DFV-1 1995 was developed for sliced decorative wood face veneer

Our raw materials sourced in North America are from the world’s greatest sustainably managed temporate forest.  Recognized as the highest certainty of legal harvest, the primary species are red oak, white oak, maple, walnut, hickory, cherry, birch, ash, pecan, pine and fir. American made engineered hardwoods are the “green building” material.

Engineered wood provides the natural beauty of nature with the highest productivity and yield from the tree maximizing the forests other air and water quality benefits and a rich bio-diverse habitat.  Engineered hardwood products are innovative and flexible to the widest variety of uses. This multi-ply structure gives engineered wood superior stability which reduces concerns associated with shrinking and expanding when temperature and humidity change. Factory applied prefinishes such as urethanes are much tougher and longer lasting than site-applied finishes and are more consistent.

Veneers, whether faces on plywood or the wear layer on flooring, provide the means to show the diversity of natural wood. Like no two snowflakes are exactly alike, quarter sliced, plain sliced, half round sliced, rift cut or rotary cut produce different grain patterns from the log combining the art and science of maximizing nature’s beauty.

American hardwood products are 50% carbon and sequester that carbon for the lifetime of their use. North America’s hardwood forests sequester more carbon than any other sink in this region.

Beauty, warmth, permanence, comfort, safety, durability, quality, carefree use- Nothing is better than a certified engineered hardwood product from North America.

HPVA Laboratories provides IAS accredited testing and IEC/ISO 65 certification services for formaldehyde (CARB TPC-8), VOC, fire, and physical properties. Tests offered are ASTM E1333, D6007, D5582, E84, E662, E48, E162, F814-83, and other boil and bond tests
